Animal Welfare Quality Standard Certification
The consumer market has established high demands on its daily eating habits both in the production of immediate consumption products and in the secondary production, while in recent years consumers have integrated in their diet a high percentage of traditional products from local industries. Also, an important and decisive role is played by the shift of consumers to the replacement of products of animal origin with plant-based products.
To accomplish this, the livestock units used for milk production/Milk Producers and Processors should actively participate in the challenges of the industrial production of dairy products and their derivatives (e.g., halloumi), through the application of this Standard.
What is Animal Welfare Quality Standard?
The Standard has established criteria for the Welfare of milk-producing animals, the quality of milk and milk-based products.
What is Animal Welfare Quality Standard Certification?
This Standard consists of the general rules for Animal Welfare, milk/derivative production, and the corresponding audit checklist (Appendix I and Appendix II). The compliance check of these two parties is an integral part of the audit, obtaining the certificate and using the Animal Welfare – Quality Standard logo.
In addition, this Standard covers basic requirements that must be observed throughout the production process of milk and dairy products, as well as legal requirements arising from its application.
The criteria specified in the audit checklist must be met by all applicants to obtain the Animal Welfare – Quality Standard certificate.
